HUMPHREYS GARRISON, Pyeongtaek, South Korea—Today in response to North Korea’s ICBM test, Eighth Army and Republic of Korea Army personnel conducted a combined live fire exercise.

험프리스기지, 평택, 대한민국 – 오늘, 북한의 대륙간 탄도미사일 (ICBM) 발사실험에 대응해 미 8군과 한국군은 연합 실사격 훈련을 실시하였다.

Launching two missiles from the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) and two missiles from the Republic of Korea Hyunmoo Missile II system, the munitions impacted in the sea east of the Korean peninsula. The combined missile launches, conducted within hours of the suspected North Korean ICMB launch, demonstrate the Alliances ability to work together to defend the Republic of Korea.

발사된 미 육군전술미사일체계 (ATACMS) 2발과 대한민국 현무-2 미사일 2발은 한반도 동해상에서 충돌하였다. 북한의 ICBM 발사 몇 시간 내에 실시된 연합 미사일 대응발사는 한미동맹이 공조해 대한민국을 방어하는 능력을 입증한다.

“The ROK-U.S. Alliance remains ironclad and our combined efforts showcase the capabilities of this Alliance,” said Lt. Gen. Thomas Vandal, Eighth Army Commander. “I assure you we are ready to fight tonight, will deter North Korean provocation and if necessary defend the Republic of Korea."

토마스 밴달 미 8군 사령관은 “한미동맹은 철갑같이 굳건하며 우리 공동의 노력은 동맹의 능력을 보여주는 것”이라며 “우리는 오늘 밤 싸울 준비가 되어있고 북한 도발을 억제하며 유사시 대한민국을 방어할 것입니다”라고 말했다.
